The El Paso Society for Musicians of the Future (EPSMF) is pleased to announce its 2018 HONOREE, CINDY GRAFF COHEN. Each year EPSMF celebrates an outstanding person who has been integral to the support and continuation of the Arts in El Paso and the surrounding area.
Cindy Graff Cohen has held a very special place in the El Paso Arts community. Her role as a journalist for more than eleven years has placed her in the midst of the Arts and Culture of the Border Region, providing support and visibility to Arts organizations which are vital to the success of their events and overall health. Her passion for community-through her articles- has touched the roots of what drives the creativity of non-profits dedicated to the grounding and growth of the Arts in the Sun City.
EPSMF will honor Cindy Graff Cohen at its annual Honoree Dinner on May 4, 2018 at the Magic Bistro on Doniphan Drive in the Upper Valley. The event is entitled “Inspired” to signify the many ways in which the journalistic power of the word supports creative resources and becomes valuable contributions to the community. EPSMF recognizes the power of words as much as the power of music. Both communicate on many levels, create opportunities, and lend empowering support.
This event will also include the Instruments for Young Lives (IYL) Awards, an EPSMF program designed to support music students who demonstrate academic and musical excellence along with unmet financial need. Two local high school students (Carlos Simental, a freshman at Horizon High School and Isaiah Herrera, a freshman at Eastwood High School) will receive step-up instruments to support their continued music education.
